Twofold

Stitched empty blister packs
Exhibited in Refuse, Broadwick Studio, Canary Wharf London
2025
What does it mean to take an object which is ephemeral, so readily discarded and devalued, and turn it into something that demands attention, that speaks to us about life, fragility, and transformation? The work ‘Twofold’ is both a celebration and a rejection. It celebrates a humble everyday object (the empty blister packet designed to facilitate our health), but rejects the speed with which, once this packaging has fulfilled its function, we deem it unworthy.
Twofold’s silver and blue looped structure, composed of empty packs stitched together, embodies the tension between impermanence and endurance. The work invites viewers to literally follow multi-levelled connections, twists and turns that impart a sense of ongoing co-existence. Consequently, something temporary is seen to exist alongside the lasting physical presence of a sculpture. The look of ephemerality is continuous with the look of permanence. And what was about to be thrown away is now treasured.
