I am fascinated by divinatory practices that are performed by opening a book at random. Although it might need careful interpretation, the first sentences you read on that page hold the answer to the questions you might have about your future health and wellbeing.
The ancient art of bibliomancy came to mind as I brazed together two hand-beaten, german silver reproductions of blister packs. The resulting small-scale sculpture looks like an upturned book with all its pages missing. In the same way that the pills have disappeared from the empty pockets, the texts that could foretell the future have gone. It demands a careful reading, answer lies in the voids. Absence of knowledge is in interplay with the presence of knowledge.
The work contemplates the relationship between contemporary medical procedures and ancient, traditional methods of seeking answers and wishing for ongoing health.
