Retained II, brass and patina, 31 x 31 x 3 cm, Jan 2024

With these brass versions of the project my hope was that their tactility, enhanced by the seductive nature of the metal, would encourage people to touch their surfaces - an action that mirrors the original handling of the pill taker. In the back of my mind was a memory of murti statues in temples worn smooth by centuries of touching. When these reliefs are exhibited, the visual impression changes the moment you reach out and touch them. The viewer interacts with the surface and adds new sensual memories of their own. I aim that these brass works will recall, and then transform, personal experiences of using blister packs. The question these pieces seem to ask is: what if blister packs were no longer disposable?
